Free
By Christie Cole
I usually just talk to You
When I have things to say,
But I do not want to leave out a thing
About our Independence Day.
I thank You, Lord, for I am free;
And Your Love, my family sees.
But in my heart I wonder,
Freedom for how many today, will be?
As I look around, Lord,
I see all types of people everywhere.
And as I dance now to Your song,
I see that some just stare.
For they do not know my Jesus, Lord,
They came for food and fun;
But as I close my eyes and pray,
I pray it has begun.
They do not crowd the altar, Lord,
Some don't even close their eyes to pray;
But I now close mine, Father,
And this is what I say......
Father God in Heaven,
Let this be the start.
They haven't found Salvation Lord,
But, please, let this touch their hearts.
Lord, let us show the love of Christ.
Lord, help them understand
That if they don't give You their hearts,
They'll keep sinking in quicksand.
I see a man down on his luck-
His tattered clothes and hard face show his strife
Then a woman of God reaches into her cooler,
And, God, she offers life.
It's just a drink of water,
But his hard face now starts to smile.
Maybe this is it, Lord;
For she went the extra mile.
I see, Lord, this is not his day;
For his head never bows to pray.
But I pray, Lord, You have reached him,
Touched his heart in some small way.
I am so humbled by the Youth, Lord,
They sing and dance now on stage.
They have such a heart for You,
Even at this young and tender age!
I watch the children in the sprinkler now,
Their eyes wide, their hearts of glee.
They run; they laugh; they jump and play.
Thank You, Father, that they are Free
Free to dance, to run, to play,
To follow all their hopes and dreams.
But most of all I thank You, Lord,
That they may know what salvation means.
For we are all Your children-
Some still chained, but some now Free.
I thank You, God, for this Independence Day-
For the sowing of Your seed.
For those that came to know You, Lord,
I pray You give them strength to face the fight.
For those that somehow were not ready,
I pray in their darkness they saw light.
That in the midst of fireworks,
Through those serving food or lyrics to Your song,
That for You my Father God,
Now their hearts will long.
That they will long for freedom-
Freedom to run, to dance, to play
Freedom to sing Your song , Lord,
To shout sweet words of praise!
I thank You, Lord, for Freedom,
For those that reached out to others this day.
I thank You, Lord, for those You touched,
On this Independence Day. |
